Northwest Montana is one of the most naturally beautiful scenic regions of the lower
forty-eight states. Those fortunate to visit the mountains and rivers of our state
leave with a sense of belonging to our earth. After having basked in its wonder
many almost immediately begin plotting their return. Glacier National Park is the
“crown jewel” of the region with spectacular vistas whether you are driving or hiking.
Tucked On the western edge of Glacier Park is an area known as the North Fork. It’s
namesake is derived from the river flowing out of Canada south to Flathead Lake,
the North Fork of the Flathead River.
Surrounded by the most pristine mountain environment Montana has to offer the North
Fork is a wilderness paradise. As prime habitat for grizzlies, black bear, wolves,
wolverines, lynx, moose, elk, deer, mountain lion and countless other species...wildlife
sightings are often.
The North Fork is one of the last vestiges of wilderness in the lower forty eight
states yet is accessible by vehicle year round. A trip to the North Fork is an excursion
all its own. An experience you won’t soon forget. You won’t find gas stations here.
You won’t find strip malls. Not many people either. What you will find are clear
pristine streams and rivers with fishing and wildlife that isn’t found in too many
other places. You won’t find utility power here but you will find remote hiking,
biking and camping opportunities.
How you get here is up to you. Some arrive by bicycle. Most come by car, truck
or motorcycle. A few come by bus. Some by motor home. A few venture in on four
wheelers. We even have the occasional traveler on horse or mule. No matter how
you arrive you will experience a trip in an environment you’ll not likely find back
home. And isn’t that the purpose of a vacation or trip? Traveling is about seeing
new territory. Change up your environment. Enjoy the outdoors. Cut the cell phone
“cord”. Leave the TV behind. The wildlife and natural environment are what’s playing
in the North Fork.
The purpose of this web site is to welcome and encourage all to come and enjoy this
place with us. With this web site we hope to whet your appetite for the North Fork
with a little history, a few views of the area and some information to get you started
on your journey to come visit. We’ll scratch the surface with some insight. It’s
up to you to come and explore.
A visit to Northwest Montana, Glacier National Park or the Flathead Valley isn’t
complete without an excursion into the North Fork
